Wheeler Barnet goes the distance

BOSTON Wheelers’ Debbie Barnet continues to show why she is one of the rising stars of Lincolnshire cycling.

Competing in the Inter-Club 25-mile TT she claimed the first ladies’ prize and also a personal best of 1-08.18.

Meanwhile, there were also awards for Dan Carr and the men’s team.

The event was organised by Sleaford Wheelers CC on what is locally known as a relatively tough 25-mile course from Silk Willoughby through Osbournby and on to Spittlegate Roundabout (Grantham) and back.

Sleaford came out top with some excellent rides, all three team members recording times sub-one hour.

The Boston Wheelers CC team, consisting of Craig Thursby (1-00.05), Paul Hutchinson (1-01.17) and Martin White (1-02.54), achieved a very creditable second place with Spalding CC taking third.

Dan Carr (1-04.23, a personal best) was also the Group C winner on the night.

Other times on the night were: Adrian Hartog (1-04.36 PB), Ian Scott (1-05.50), Pete Flint (1-07.55), David Grayson (1-08.41).

On the road racing scene, Craig Thursby finished fifth in the fourthth Cat Criterium at Lincoln Yarborough Centre.

In round five of the Lincolnshire Road Race Series, Simon Plaice put in an impressive performance coming in ninth place.

Charlie Porter came in 19th and Chris Clayton hung on until the final drag but was dropped.
