A trio of Boston Wheelers tasted success at the Barkstone Heath Crits event.
After several races ruined by crashes, it was only a matter of time before the team stayed out of trouble and got a result. And last Wednesday, Craig Thursby, Dan Carr and Charlie Porter (pictured) did just that.
Determined to put past troubles behind them, Craig jumped into an early break while Charlie controlled the chasing pack with Dan on his wheel.
After some fast and furious racing, Craig jumped and finished in fourth place.
Charlie led Dan out for the sprint, for Dan to finish eighth and Charlie 10th.
This eighth place for Dan means that he has progressed to a third category rider.
The weekly 10-League was a tough, with the blustery winds making it difficult for time trialling.
This week’s first place saw Adi Marshall returning from a short illness to record a 22 mins 42 secs.
For the third time this season, Sleaford Wheelers’ Richard Hamblin broke the course record, this time by one second to record 22 mins 15 secs over the 10-mile course.
Results: 1 Adi Marshall 22-42, 2 Darren Smith 23-37, 3 Martin White 24-06, 4 Neil Coles 25-17, 5 Pete Flint 26-39, 6 Chris Clayton 27-21, 8 Richard Crips 32-02.
Private Trials: Richard Hamblin (Sleaford Wheelers) 22-15, Gary Foreman (Yello Velo) 24-07
The next Wheelers Go-Ride event for children will be at the Peter Paine Centre on Saturday (10.30-11.30am).
