Ben Wilson bagged a brace of sixth places at Donington Park on his return to the British Supersport championship over the Easter weekend.
It was not what he wanted, but he scored 20 championship points and leaves the Leicestershire circuit in sixth place overall.
Things didn’t go quite to plan for the Kirton rider as the Gearlink Kawasaki suffered a few issues throughout the weekend.
“Donington Park has never been kind to me and this weekend was no different,” Wilson said.
“But the guys in the garage are on to it and I am sure we can turn things around.”
Wilson qualified in ninth position for the Sprint race.
He made a fantastic start and was soon up to third when the race was red flagged for a crash.
At the re-start, a six lap dash to the flag, Wilson was up to second on the first lap but the racing was close and he finished in sixth place.
Wilson began the Feature race from the second row and was second on the first lap.
But he was soon demoted to third then fourth until his Gearlink Kawasaki teammate Glenn Irwin overtook him on lap five, leaving Wilson to follow in fifth place.
Andy Reid passed Wilson and a dash for the line saw Wilson just finish in sixth, the times given seeing him just 1/200th of a second adrift.
The next round is on the short and twisty Brands Hatch Indy circuit over the weekend of April 17-19.
