Boston Tennis Club’s Dana Kenneally-Forrester was involved in the HSBC under 14s Road to Wimbledon National Finals.
This event which began in 2002 is based on players starting out in local competitions and progressing through stages to the final, which is held at the All England Club.
Dana joined three other players from Lincolnshire – Jessica Jackson, Sean Hodkin and Joshua Elliot – to take part in this prestigious event.
Players win qualifying tournaments at their club or school and then at county level to win a place in the National Finals.
Dana narrowly missed a place in the main draw despite competing well in the group stages.
She then progressed through the consolation draw to reach the final, but lost out to Natalie Carter, missing out 7-10 in a third set tie-break.
Dana teamed up with Jessica Jackson for the doubles and won through one round.
The Lincolnshire boys won through a round of the main draw when they had to play each other, and Sean Hodkin then lost out in the quarters.
Boston Tennis Club members were among the winners at the Grantham Junior Championships.
Winners emerged from the mini events to the older events at the grade three tournament.
In the younger age groups, Boston’s William Cheer won the mixed under eights event and the consolation event at nine and under.
Matthew Gedney won the under 10s and put up a strong effort in the 12 and under competition, losing in the quarters to the eventual winner.
Dominic Beesley won the 18 and under event after a tough three-set final against Boston’s Lewis Fisher.
Beesley also won the mens’ open event.
Henry Beesley, Zach and Toby McDonnell-Woods, Emma Mastin, Victoria Beardsley, Paris Royal, Lucy and Thomas Hull were among the other Boston competitors.
