Youngsters shine at Sportshall event

Thirty-three youngsters entered Boston and District Athletic Club’s opening Junior Sportshall Athletics Competition at The B-Hive.

In the under 11 age group, Hallam Bedford won the one-lap race (11.9secs), speed bounce (67) and standing triple jump (4.44m).

Kyle Frost won the two-lap affair (23.7secs) and, over four laps, Matthew Millington was the clear winner (50.9 secs).

Jake Baxter won the standing long jump (1.65m) and the vertical jump was won by Jago Higgins and Shane Canham, who both achieved 35cm.

For the girls, Tulula Sohngen won the speed bounce (38) and shared the vertical jump title with Alicia Baxter (26cm).

Lucy Raywood and Macey Andrews both scored 47 in the speed bounce.

In the under nines, Ben Ward won the one-lap event (12.8 secs).

Melena Baxter was first in both the two and four-lap races (25.5 secs and 54.6 secs).

Ben Ward produced the best standing long jump (1.55m) and Hadleigh Bedford was first in the standing triple jump (3.91m) and vertical jump (37cm).

Melena Baxter had the highest score in the speed bounce (62).

In the under sevens age group, Charlotte Kirk won both the one and two-lap races (14.4secs and 29.1 secs) as well as the speed bounce (39), standing triple jump (2.97m) and standing triple jump (2.97m).

Codie Frost produced the highest leap in the vertical jump (26cm).
