Morley hits an unbeaten 81 for Seconds

SLBL Premier Division

Stamford Town 152-8, Boston CC 3rds 153-4 - Boston won by six wickets.

Chris Morley struck 81 unbeaten runs as Boston Cricket Club Seconds defeated Stamford Town at the Mayflower on Saturday.

The innings, which included 13 fours and a six, helped Luke Gilding’s side claim a six-wicket success.

Stamford posted 152-8 with Phillip Holland’s 64 their top score by some margin.

Tim Juggins (18), Liam Dave (25) and Steve Armstrong (22 not out) added to the total.

However, Boston’s bowlers did enough to give the team a reasonable total to chase down.

Michael Troops, Paul Deans and Ben Troops each took two wickets, while Daniel Lumley also claimed a victim and Charlie Roberts chipped in with a run out.

With the bat, Boston opener Morley set the standard early on. He reached 81 as his teammates also added to the score to secure victory in the 27th over.

Fellow opener Matthew Hood scored five runs before being trapped lbw by Sam Barrett, while Ben Troops added two runs before returning to the pavilion.

However, 32 from Damian Lawson and 11 runs from the bat of Roberts put Boston in a good position before captain Luke Gilding added five unbeaten runs.

The Seconds sit second in the South Lincs and Border League Premier Division, three points behind Spalding Seconds, who have played on match more.
