New kids on the boc

FOUR youngsters from Kirton’s Middlecott School have competed in Lincolnshire’s inaugural School Games.

Charlie Bonner, Mikey Scarborough, Josh Hanson and Josh Hillier took part in the games, which have been inspired by London 2012.

The quartet represented Boston and District at boccia, a Paralympic sport which is similar to bowls.

This was the first time the team had played boccia competitively. Although they didn’t win they were awarded the Olympic Values Trophy, which represents respect, excellence and friendship.

The Games were opened by Olympic triple jump gold medallist Jonathan Edwards and the Secretary of State for Health Andrew Lansley.

Charlie carried the Schools Games torch in the opening ceremony, alongside Edwards.

Mikey and both Joshes carried the Boston banner.
