A team win tennis Autumn League clash

Boston Tennis Club’s boys’ A and B teams faced one abother on Saturday in the Lincolnshire Autumn Outdoor League.

The A team came out on top, recording a 6-0 win for William Cheer, Tom Mecklenburgh, Max Mecklenburgh and Harvey Vickers.

Tom Piggins, Robbie Townsend, Joseph Brookes and George Halgarth represented the B team.

Boston’s 16 and under boys’ successful run came to a halt against Deeping.

The team of Lucas East, William Cutforth, Max Jones and Connall Newton drew 3-3 but missed out on the tie-break shootout to lose 6-7.

Also in the Lincolnshire Junior Autumn Outdoor League, the Boston 12 and under boys’ B team lost out to Rustons in a match the previous weekend.

The team was Tom Piggins, Robbie Townsend, Frank Deri and Daniels Goreliks.

After the singles the team were trailing 2-6 and put in a valiant effort in the doubles.

However, they were unable to win these two rubbers and lost the match 2-10.

The Boston Red Mini B team narrowly lost to Tealby in the Lincolnshire Winter Mini Tennis League.

The team of Angus Martin, Ben Simpson, Declan Dodes and Neve Gibbons played very well and gained a lot of experience with a 7-11 result.

The Boston Senior Men second team had a tough match against Louth in Division One of the Lincolnshire Slazenger Senior Winter League. The team consisted of Chris Cook, John Gibson, David Makins and Andy Clamp and lost without winning a rubber.

The Boston Senior men’s third team had a 8-0 win over Sleaford in the second division of this league.

The team that played at Sleaford was Sev Smura, Jeremy George-Jones, Martin Harrison and Richard Tupper.

The Boston and District Winter League, due to start on Sunday morning, was washed out.

Teams now look to next Sunday morning for the opportunity to commence the season.
