Boston Cricket Club have announced that they will host a match against the Lashings World XI.
The World’s Greatest Cricket Team - as they are billed - have agreed to take on Boston at the Mayflower next year.
Friday, July 29, 2016 will be a date for the diary for any cricket fans eager to spot stars of the game.
“It’s well over a year away but it’s great for the club and the town,” said Boston skipper Tom Baxter.
“We are already getting things sorted for it.
“It will be a great event to be involved in.”
Lashings were formed as a scratch team in 1984, but have grown into a side of celebrity ex-players who travel the UK putting on exhibition matches against schools and clubs to promote the game of cricket.
Former West Indies captain Richie Richardson was the first big name to sign on for the club.
Since then, Brian Lara, Muttiah Muralitharan, Henry Olonga, Courtney Walsh, Allan Donald, Sir Viv Richards and Wasim Akram have joined the long list of household names who have donned the Lashings shirt over the years.
Ex-England women’s captain Clare Connor has also turned out for the team.
