Boston Tennis Club ladies are champions, but season ends in defeat

Boston Tennis Club’s Ladies finished their season with a narow defeat in the Slazenger Lincolnshire Doubles League.

Ashleigh Frankish, Lucy Hull, Linda Barrow, Emma Mastin, Emily Hawkesworth and Charlotte Priestley had already wrapped up the title, but went down 5-4 to Grantham in a close contest.

The Boston Men’s team concluded their campaign with a 6-3 defeat to Grantham, despite the best efforts of Henry Beesley, Felix Beech, Alex Cobb, Mike Burnett, David Cheer and James Newton.

The Men’s Sixths, playing in Division 3B, finished the year with a good win against Bourne Seconds, Robert Smith, Bill Burnett, Robert Bonser, Gary Pile, Matthew Cheer and Simon Beardsley winning 6-3.

A new Lincolnshire League is taking place for the first time.

The Lincolnshire Junior Autumn Outdoor League has begun with Boston teams involved.

The girls’ 12 and under teams have had wins against Grantham.

Boston 12 A - Louise Sharp and Serena Morrow - won 4-2 and so did Boston 12 B, Alice Gamman and Serena Morrow.

The boys’ 12 A - Matthew Dickens, Harvey Vickers, Ted Shears and Siddharth Anand - stood level at the end of the match but lost the deciding shoot out and the team lost 6-7 to Deeping.

Against Grantham the team, featuring Will Cheer, Thomas Piggins, Will Lakin and Siddharth Anand won 8-4.

The boys’ 12 B team - Max Mecklenburgh, Tom Mecklenburgh, Thomas Piggins and Recce Anderson-Doherty - won the deciding shootout to beat Rustons 7-6.

The 14 and under girls - Paris Wright and Louise Sharp - beat Louth 6-0.

The 16 and under girls - Faith Coffey and Tabitha Priestley - missed out 2-4 to St James, whilst the under 18 girls - Emma Mastin and Victoria Needham - beat Louth 4-2.

The 14 and under boys beat Tennis Buddies and Horncastle, with Matthew Gedney, Harry Foster, Trent Hutson, Tom Hull and Will Cheer yet to drop a rubber.

The 16 and under Boys A lost 4-8 to Deeping. Thomas Cozens, Lucas East, Harry Foster and Connall Newton competed in this match.

The boys’ 16 B team - George Wookey, Alex Pinchin, Harry Groutage and Pamod Piyatissa - missed out to a strong Grantham team.

The same team played Sleaford and won without conceding a rubber.

The 18 and under boys - Felix Beech, Tom Cozens, David Cheer and Sam Felipes - beat Rustons but the B team lost out 2-10 to Deeping.

Playing for the team on this occasion were George Wookey, Matthew Cheer, Harry Groutgae and Nicholas Hart.
