Kirton rider Aaron Clarke rode to a 31st-place finish in round seven of the National Superstock 600 championship at Brands Hatch on Sunday.

Clarke began his weekend on Friday with free practice, where he got to grips with the Kent circuit and began to reduce his lap times.

The first qualifying session was later in the day on Friday and Clarke continued to make further progress.

He had got himself up to 34th position but in the final seconds of the session, after posting his fastest lap, he slid off at Paddock Hill Bend.

Luckily neither he nor the bike suffered any damage, although the bike was to be thoroughly checked over prior to the final qualifying session on Saturday.

Clarke experienced a good final session and, although he didn’t move any further up the order, he posted his personal best lap.

As the race got underway, Clarke got a good start and moved up a place to 33rd on the first of 14 laps.

By lap five he was up to 32nd and on lap 11 he moved up another position to 31st.

He was reeling in the riders ahead but ran out of laps and crossed the finish line in 31st.

He said: “I ended up 31st in the race but was disappointed with my pace.

“We went the wrong way with set up and I just struggled to match my pace from Q2 or better it.”

The next round is at Thruxton over the weekend of July 31-August 2.
