Gavin Herberts was the player to prevent a whitewash when Stickney visited Lodgers A in Division One of the Boston and District Table Tennis League.
He beat Tim Day in four sets to claim Stickney’s only point.
Gavin also ran Graham Lacey close.
Jack Christian took the first end against Tim, and another against Kelvin Clements, but was unable to make further headway, while Vince Lozynsky couldn’t pick up victory.
Graves Park B entertained their A team, needing every point in their fight against relegation, and were almost disappointed with the 4-6 scoreline, winning only one of the four games which went to five ends.
All the B team managed to beat Nick Langley, Mike Freeston relieved to win 18-16 in the second leg of his four-set victory.
Mike also picked up the scalp of Phil Brooks, coming back from a 0-2 set deficit, while Phil beat Mick Maltby and Alan Reetham in five sets.
Mick took Rob Smith to five sets, the game see-sawing through four close ends, but Rob in complete control in the final leg.
