The latest round of the Boston and District AC Junior Cross Country events was low on numbers but high on quality, with boys and girls showing improved performances.

The young runners appeared to relish the mild conditions on the Punchbowl Lane course.

The school years one and two event was won by Toby Taylor (St George’s School), finishing the 600m course in 3 mins 13 secs, ahead of Ben Rudkin (St George’s, 3mins 17 secs) and third-placed Joe Slater (BADAC, 3 mins 41 secs).

The years three and four event was won by Jessica Frick (BADAC), completing the 1,600m challenge in 6 mins 45 seconds, 22 seconds ahead of runner-up James Leates (BADAC).

Clubmate Jacob Slater was third, a further second behind, with Lucy Taylor was fourth.

Flynn Slater (BADAC) had a comprehensive victory in the years five and six race, a sharp start helping him to clock 6 mins 17 secs.

In second was Matthew Lewis (BADAC, 6 mins 40 secs) ahead of Alex Frick (BADAC, 6 mins 58 secs), with Ella Taylor (St Georges, 11 mins 18 secs) fourth.

Following their successes in the Lincolnshire Sportshall Athletics Championships and team trials, five Boston and District AC representatives have been selected to represent the county at the East Midlands Regional Sportshall Championships.

They are Lucy Raywood (under 13 girls), Malena Baxter (under 11 girls), Haddley Bedford, Ryan Firth and Matthew Lewis (under 11 boys).
