An invaluable 43 from Ashok Kumar saw Freiston, Leake and Leverton to victory at Cavaliers on Saturday.

Kumar (pictured) came to the crease with Freiston in a precarious position, but his positive batting took his team to victory in the South Lincs and Border League Division One.

Freiston bowled first on a pitch which proved to be very good.

Taimur Mian claimed the wicket of Rahul Kumar for six.

Two wickets apiece from Ollie Booth and Tommy Atkinson reduced Cavaliers to 58-5.

However, Cavaliers fought hard and made it up to 144.

Rizwan Qadir picked up three wickets in an impressive spell, but Freiston should really have bowled the home side out for a lower total.

Freiston’s batting once again looked vulnerable as they lost two early wickets, Connor Goodfellow (22) and Zeeshan Saeed (20) playing aggressive, but short-lived innings.

When Panjwani (six) and Booth (seven) were dismissed, Freiston looked to be in trouble.

Cavaliers then dismissed opener Richard Paul, who had been holding the innings together, for 29.

This reduced Freiston to 97-7, still 48 runs adrift of their victory target.

However, Kumar quickly seized the initiative and was well-supported by Taimur Mian, who displayed a cool temperament to make an unbeaten eight.

This victory takes Freiston to third in the league, two points behind Boston Seconds, but with a game in hand.

In the R.P. Smith Friendly League, Freiston Seconds beat league leaders Grimoldby by 114 runs.

A sensational double century stand for the second wicket led Freiston to an emphatic victory.

Connor Goodfellow (124) and Charles Lenton (88) added 211 runs... both notching their best-ever scores.

Grimoldby were dimissed fore 131, with wickets taken by Ollie Booth (three), Lenton (two), Vishal Rajput, John Goodfellow and Stephen Paul, whilst James Reed excelled in the field.
