Sloppy Freiston, Leake and Leverton slipped to a disappointing defeat at Lindum Thirds in the South Lincs and Border League Division Two on Saturday.

The home side made their opponents pay for a series of dropped catches, poor shots and woeful running between the wickets.

Freiston skipper Rob Sexton won the toss and bowled first.

Ollie Booth made full use of the surface, removing Jack Fixter with a wonderful off cutter in the first over.

Booth then picked up two wickets in his fifth over to reduce Lindum to 19-3. Booth was backed up by an economical spell from John Goodfellow, who bowled his 12 overs for only 24 runs.

Darren Tate trapped Ben Wells LBW before clean bowling Jon Begley for 27.

However an 80-run sixth wicket partnership swung the game Lindum’s way. Freiston spurned a number of simple catches, allowing Max Bauer to score 40.

Haris Nadeem dismissed Bauer and picked up two more wickets, but was unable to dislodge Aidan Lockwood, who made a fine 39 to see Lindum to 160-9.

With the bat, Freiston were in a desperation situation at 45-5.

The top four perished to poor shots without making double figures and Booth was then run out without facing a ball,

Tate managed 36 as the innings ended on 119.

In the East Lindsey League Division One, Freiston LL lost to Tetford... by one run.

Tetford were dismissed for 174, but Freiston - despite wonderful unbeaten 96 from Stewart Kirtley - fell short on 173-8 after 40 overs.
