Freiston L&L 193-8, Welby Cavaliers 158 - Freiston won by 35 runs.

Freiston, Leake and Leverton maintained their unbeaten record with a hard-fought victory away to Welby Cavaliers.

Batting first, having lost the toss, Freiston lost three early wickets to be reduced to 35-3.

However, a 64-run partnership between Abdul Moeed and Zeeshan Saeed built a strong platform for Freiston.

Saeed made 47 and Moeed 36, but when they fell soon after each other there was a danger of the Freiston innings ending with a whimper.

Ashok Kumar had other ideas as he smashed a quick fire unbeaten 43.

He was joined in the final overs by Ollie Booth, who struck two monstrous sixes in his 22.

The pair’s 40-run partnership took Freiston to 193, a score which appeared to be above par.

Freiston started well with the ball.

Tommy Atkinson having opener Johnson caught behind for two.

Two wickets in two balls for the ever dependable Taimur Mian reduced Welby Cavaliers to 30-3.

The home side did rebuild though, with Kennedy and Ingram adding 38.

Kennedy made 31 before being caught in the deep by Connor Goodfellow.

Matta made 21 before being trapped LBW by Booth.

The match remained in the balance until Atkinson produced a piece of brilliance with a diving catch at cover to dismiss Ingram for exactly 50.

Following that wicket the home side were unable to keep up with the run a ball required.

Two run outs and a further wicket apiece from Booth and Mian ended the Cavaliers innings on 158.

Booth and Mian both ended with three wickets as they led the way for Freiston to claim a 35 run victory.
