Boston Rugby Club go into their Notts, Lincs and Derbyshire Plate final against Buxton on Saturday aiming to add to their collection of silverware.

Following on from back-to-back promotions to the Midlands 3 North (East), Willem Jonker’s side want another trophy in their cabinet, writes Peter Hayward.

Jonker (pictured) said: “Everyone is up for the game.

“We have had this weekend off and go into the match with a full squad, although I will test the fitness of Marc Miles.

“We are going to play a fast, expansive game of rugby which we hope will help bring more silverware back to the club.”

The final - against South Lancs and Cheshire 3 side Buxton - will take place at Matlock RFC on Saturday (KO 12.30pm).

The Blue and Whites finished a creditable seventh in their first season at Midlands 3 level.

After a slow start, they beat leaders Ashby 14-12 in October and, two weeks ago, thrashed derby rivals Skegness 78-0.

Jonker added: ”The season was experimental in that we wanted to find out if we were up to the required standard.

“It was a measure of where we were and we actually did very well. Early in the season we beat Ashby and only just lost against second-placed West Bridgford.

“We know we have work to do and we may bring in a couple of players next season.”
