Boston Rugby Club were convincingly beaten 55-12 at Lincoln on Saturday.
The Blue and Whites’ third consecutive Midlands 3 East (North) defeat was the result of a series of individual errors and a lacklustre first half.
Playing against a strong wind in the opening period, the home side crumbled against their physically strong county rivals, who got themselves into an unassailable position before half time.
After the break Boston played much better and scored through Jaron Cowern, who was a threat all afternoon.
Following that, Lewis Eldin stretched to touch down a try that was converted by Will Scupham.
But it was all too little too late for a Boston side that once again had to reorganise because key players were not available.
On Saturday, Willem Jonker’s side will be looking to return to winning ways when they host basement Mellish at the Boardsides (KO 3pm).
Boston currently sit in seventh in the table while lowly Mellish are propping up the rest of the division with 19 straight defeats and no wins or draws to date.
The Blue and Whites won 42-12 at Mellish earlier this season.
