League leaders too strong for Firsts

Boston Rugby Club were beaten 59-3 at home to highflying Long Eaton.

Playing an in-form and table topping team, the match would demonstrate the gulf between the two sides, as Boston were well beaten by clear promotion favourites.

Long Eaton possessed a back line that had both pace and power, which they used at times to devastating effect.

Boston were able to match and contain the visitors forwards, however, once the ball was moved away from the set piece, or in broken play it would prove to be a challenging afternoon for the home defence.

It was to Boston’s credit and the undoubted team spirit they have, that they battled on through out the match.

Boston’s points came from a penalty by Mathew Bray in the first half.

Boston have no scheduled fixture this weekend and resume league action the following Saturday, playing away at Meden Vale in a bottom-of-the-table clash.
