Midlands 4 East (North)
Boston RFC 43 Amber Valley 5
Boston Rugby Club continued their winning ways with a seven-try haul as they earned their first double of the season at the expense of Amber Valley.
The Blue and Whites started strongly, scoring their first try after five minutes with captain Lewis Eldin crossing the whitewash.
The conversion by Matt Bray put the home side 7-0 in front.
Despite the advantage of the strong wind, Amber Valley were proving difficult opponents to break down, and it would take 20 minutes before back row Luke Fowler finished off a flowing move under the posts to move Boston 14-0 ahead.
With five minutes of the first half remaining winger Jaron Cowern jinked his way over from a quickly taken tap penalty.
The conversion from Bray saw Boston enter half time 21-0 ahead.
Boston started the second half like the first, scoring straight away when - from an excellent break from Sam Hughe - Eldin crossed the line for his second try.
Further tries would be scored by Alex Hough, George Sharp and Tom Hobbs, the final two demonstrating the team’s handling, support play and off-loading skills.
Boston’s man of the match was centre Hobbs.
The result see Boston retain their sixth position in the Midlands 4 East (North).
On Sunday the Firsts will play a President’s select XV (KO 11am), with the side returning to league action on january 5 at home to Worksop.
