An unbeaten 47 from Zeeshan Saeed wasn’t enough for Freiston, Leake and Leverton, who fell 12 runs short in a close and hard-fought match.
Despite the batsman’s valiant effort, it was Skegness who won Sunday’s Cojo’s East Lindsey League Division One encounter.
Bowling first, Tommy Atkinson was once again in superb form as he claimed three early scalps.
Atkinson was well supported by the economical Paul Chester as Freiston started well.
A wicket for the returning Mustafa Butt made the score 35-4, but Skegness took the score to 94-5.
Richard Paul claimed the wicket of Sean Chamberlain for a fine 44 before Butt cleaned up the tail with a further four wickets, to see Skegness bowled out for 98.
In reply, Freiston were on the wrong end of a fine spell from Skegness’s overseas player Brendan Young, the paid Australian taking five wickets to ruin Freiston’s top order.
Zeeshan Saeed batted defiantly and received support from Chester (seven) and Atkinson (nine).
Saeed looked to be taking Freiston to victory as he and Ryan Overton added 22 to take Freiston closer to the target.
However, Richie Hewitt ended Overton’s dogged resistance, before clean bowling Burman.
Freiston’s SLBL Division Two match against Belton Park was rained off on Saturday.
