Boston’s Team Evolution have claimed seven medals at the WON (Watford Open Nationals).
The event, held at the Hertfordshire Sports Village on the De Havilland Campus, Hatfield, was the first event of the year, and featuring competitors from a number of nations included Hungary, Germany, Ireland and Azerbaijan.
But the town kickboxers were in fine form, putting in some top performances.
Fourteen-year-old Nesta Baxter came away with a gold medal in the girls’ -16yrs +160cm continuous fighting category, as well as finishing third in the ladies’ -55kg continuous fighting section.
Harley Butterfield, nine, came away with a silver in the -130cm boys’ points fighting section, losing out in the final by one point.
He came third in the -140cm boys’ points fighting category as well.
Josh Talbot, 14, came third in the boys’ +170cm points fighting while Vicki Bradford came third in the ladies’ +70kg points fighting.
Mark Baldry finished second in the men’s veterans’ +75kg continuous, losing in the final to a fighter from the Czech Republic.
Coach Linda Baxter said: “I am extremely proud of the team, fighting in their new well-deserved uniforms.
“They showed everyone what an awesome team they are becoming, and what a strong unit they all are.”
The team is rapidly growing and is preparing for the WAKO British Championships, where they hope to come back with some British titles.
