Skegness ASC continue to go from strength to strength

Skegness Amateur Swimming Club's squad took part in their internal points score event - with every swimmer that competed achieving a personal best.

This saw an average improvement of several seconds.

Several swimmers moved from being able to compete at C grade to being able to compete in a B grade meet, where they can try for their place in the county qualifiers in 2017.

Four of the poolside team - Andy Parker, Kim Baker, Paige Baker and Shelly Marsden - attended a level one coaching course at the Meridian Pool, Louth, all passing.

Three swimmers attended the Grantham GP, with Lucy Parker, Kayleigh Alexander and Isaac Banham all setting great times.

Isaac Banham took 13 seconds off his previous week’s PB in the 200m individual medley.

Kayleigh Alexander (pictured) took part in he Swimathon at Horncastle for Sport Relief, swimming 2.5Km in 48 minutes.

Club members Thomas Webster, Alex Parker, Aiden Hawdon, Isaac Banham, Temira Miles, Casey Wain, Sienna England-White, Clara Moorland and Lamara Sneddon competed at the Beverley Barracudas’ meet.

The team finished 10th out of 17 clubs, with the Skegness squad being one of the smallest there.

However, it didn’t stop them coming home with more than 24 gold, silver and bronze medals between them.

Sienna, nine, received silver in her 50m butterfly race.

Lamara missed out in the medals because she swam to fast for her grade, but as a result has now moved up, so she can compete in B grade races.
