BOSTON Cricket Club’s First XI have done it – recording their first win of the Lincs ECB Premier campaign.
Tom Baxter’s side earned an eight-wicket victory over Grimsby Town in their 11th contest of the year.
It wasn’t enough to lift them off the foot of the table, but they closed the gap on the teams around them.
Colin Cheer took five wickets, and Baxter three more, as Grimsby finished on 203-8.
In bat, Boston’s Jonny Cheer and Danny Hegarty put on a match-winning 182-run partnership.
Hegarty eventually went for 83, while Cheer finished on 96 not out.
While Boston’s First XI were celebrating their win, the Seconds and Thirds were both left thinking what could have been following abandoned matches.
The Seconds’ South Lincs and Border League Division Two clash at Blankney fell foul of the weather.
In Division Three, the Thirds’ match at Lundum Thirds suffered the same fate.
In the Lincoln and District Sunday League Premier Division, Boston Sunday Firsts finished on 139-4 to beat Bracebridge Heath by six wickets.
Hegarty grabbed 51 runs.
The Lincoln and District Sunday League Division One saw Boston Sunday Seconds lose by eight wickets to Sleaford Sunday.
Dave Gilding (57) and Paul Timby (37 not out) helped the Mayflower men to 133-6, but Sleaford soon rattled up 136 runs for the loss of two wickets.
