IN THE Boston and District Winter Tennis League a determined Boston C team began their campaign with a win against Spilsby.
The Boston C team might have been slower off the mark than the other Boston teams playing in the league but once the starting gate was raised the team threw itself in to the fray.
The team of Dan Bambridge, James Newton, Anthony Hulley and Dom Llayton-Hannam won comfortably 4-0.
Boston, current holders of the Winter League, is sending out a statement this is the team to beat in the coming few months.
All of the Boston teams will be back in action next Sunday morning.
The Veteran Ladies second team also had a convincing 4-0 win against Bourne second ladies team in the third division of the Lincolnshire Veteran Doubles League.
The team of Tricia Sweeney, Joan Beale, Catherine Ellis and Denise Priestley is in strong contention for promotion.
Frances Keane and Michael Sweeney are the 2011 winners of the Millwood Summer Doubles League.
The Summer Doubles League sees players aiming to win as many games as possible partnering each of the other three competitors in their division, with a target of up to a maximum of 18 games per round.
The league runs from the beginning of May until September.
Both Frances and Michael managed the pressure to keep the opposition, in the form of Richard Tupper and Margaret Wright, at bay.
Succesful competitors will receive their prizes and trophies from league organiser Michael Milnes at the club dinner dance to be held at the County Club on Saturday, November 19.
