Tom and Abhinav Singh from the same hymn sheet in Boston Seconds’ victory

Abhinav Singh and Tom Poole did the damage with bat and ball as Boston Cricket Club’s Seconds defeated Baston Firsts by five wickets.

Singh sent down a succession of impressive deliveries as Baston were dismissed for just 102 runs in Saturday’s South Lincs and Border League Division One match.

His figures of 4-14 were backed up by fellow bowlers Sam Major (2-5) and Shaun Moore (1-21), while Poole added a run out.

With the bat, Poole’s 44 runs helped Boston reach 104-5 within 19 overs.

Peter Mitchell’s 29 and 16 runs from Rowan Evans also played their part in the victory.

Boston’s Sunday Firsts suffered a 124-run defeat at Cherry Willingham in the Lincoln and District Premier Division.

The hosts posted 239-7, with Boston unable to match them, all out for 115.

In Division One, the Sunday Seconds were also defeated, beaten by 88 runs at Morton.

The hosts finished their innings on 204-8, despite wickets falling to Wills Barker (2-28), Michael Troops (2-51), Aaron Wilkinson (1-32), Callum McNulty (1-30) and John Goodfellow (1-11).

Boston’s response saw them dismissed for 116, short of their target.

Rob Grant gave the Mayflower men some hope with his 54 runs, before he was caught and dismissed.

other double-figure scores came from Ben Troops (15), Goodfellow (13 not out), Graham Porter (12) and McNulty (11).
