Here’s a preview of some of the films and live shows coming to Boston’s West End Cinema, on West Street, after Christmas.

○ The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (PG), Thursday, December 26.

In his secret life, Walter Mitty (Ben Stiller) dreams big...really big. There’s no challenge beyond his grasp, be it climbing a massive glacier or rescuing a senior citizen from an exploding building. When he’s not daydreaming, the not-so-secret life of Walter Mitty is the opposite of his real life.

○ American Hustle (15), Friday, January 3

American Hustle is the true story of the FBI’s 1980 undercover congressional sting operation, dubbed ABSCAM, which was the brainchild of the world’s greatest con artist and his partner in crime, who were forced to work with a federal agent to turn the tables on other cons, mobsters, and politicians.

○ Paranormal Activity:The Marked Ones (15), Friday, January 3

After being ‘marked’, Jesse begins to be pursued by mysterious forces while his family and friends try to save him.

○ The Railway Man (15), Friday, January 3

Based on his best-selling memoir, The Railway Man tells the true story of Eric Lomax, a British Army officer who is tormented as a prisoner of war at a Japanese labour camp during World War II.

Decades later, Lomax discovers that the Japanese interpreter he holds responsible for much of his treatment is still alive and sets out to confront him.
