A GILES Academy pupil has got just the ticket to enjoy the Olympics – guarding the VIPs in the Olympic Village.
Ryan Bent, 18, was applying for tickets to the games when he saw the opportunity to work at the Olympics and applied along with thousands of others to be a gamesmaker.
Following a series of interviews and long periods of waiting he finally heard back and found out he was to work on security at the Games – where the athletes will be living.
The Giles headboy, who also works at Burton House, said it was amazing to find out he would be working there.
“I will be actually there where they’re staying. It’s a once in a lifetime experience to say I have been there, in the Olympics,” he said.
Ryan said he’s hoping to catch a glimpse of sprinter Usain Bolt and has got his own Olympic signature book.
“I’m hoping to see his just because he’s the fastest man in the world but anybody from team GB will be amazing to see, speak to and meet,” he said.
Ryan has already undergone training and his first shift will take place on July 17.
This is not Ryan’s first brush with fame either, he has sat next to X-Factor voice-over guy Peter Dickinson at the auditions.
And Ryan did eventually get some tickets, he’ll be watching the Olympic boxing after one of his shifts.
