Austrian act in town to rock the Axe

An experienced touring rock band from Austria will be entertaining audiences at Boston’s Axe and Cleaver tonight.

Four-piece band Cornerstone will be visiting the West Street venue with Spalding-based group Kamikaze Hotshot from 9pm.

The band signed to US based label ATOM Records in 2008 and that same year released their debut album Head Over Heels. After the CD release, the band did numerous tours of Europe and America.

Cornerstone do a mixture of headlining club shows and sharing larger stages with acts such as John Waite (The Babys, Bad English), Iron Maiden’s Dennis Stratton, New Model Army and American singer/songwriter Jeffrey Gaines.

Some of the songs from Head Over Heels were included in the motion picture soundtrack for a film called Little Alien.

Cornerstone won the Next Big Thing Contest, hosted by Alternative Addiction, in March 2008 and had a No. 1 hit on Chungaradio Statesides.

In 2011 the song Right or Wrong was awarded as Ballad of the Year by british Rock Realms Magazine.

Kamikaze Hotshot were formed in mid-2008 in Spalding and take their influences from 70s punk, 80s Rock and Metal in the vein of Turbonegro, Wildhearts, Black Sabbath and Motley Crue.

In early 2011 they released their self titled five track E.P and have been touring ever since.

The band play mostly originals with a few choice covers featuring Soft Cell’s Tainted Love, Nena’s 99 Red Balloons and Velvet Revolver’s Slither.

Entry free.
