A SUMMER of concerts has kicked off at St Botolph’s Church.
The lunchtime series, which takes place annually, began on Wednesday with a performance by organist and director of music at the church Marc Murray.
The free events will continue to run for the summer, each taking place from 1-1.45pm with today’s (Wednesday’s) concert again being Mr Murray with organ hymn preludes by Bach, Hovland, Karg-Elert, Philip Marshall, Gordon Slater and Whitlock.
Next Wednesday (August 8) he will play organ favourites including Toccata and Fugue in D minor by Bach and other works by Purcell, Stanley and Windor.
The Wednesday after (Auguat 15) local singers Lyndsey Evans and Emma Roland Shrubb will perform solos and duets for sopranos. On August 22, the Rev Hugh Jones will perform English and German songs.
Finally, on Auguest 29, concert pianist David Heft, will perform works by Bortkiewicz, Rachmaninoff, Scriabin and Liszt.
All concerts will have a retiring collection.
