An organisation created to enable people to have better access to art has announced the result of its initial consultations.

Transported Art have announced they will focus on 11 major themes in their second phase including Haulage, Festivals and Past Inspired.

Programme director Nick Jones said: “We are tremendously excited to move into the more substantial project development and delivery phase of Transported.

“We are going to be bringing local people together to make sure projects are appropriate to the area, and in some cases taking people to see some of the best artists and arts projects in the country, as well as bringing great art to rural communities and Boston estates.”

The organisation was set up in May following the creation of a funding scheme specifically aimed at areas of the country where it was seen that the number of people engaging with the arts was below the national average.

Boston borough and South Holland formed one of these areas, and Transported was set up in order to apply for some of the funding offered.

Since then they have worked at bringing a variety of events and exhibitions to the area including craft displays in the market, pop up theatre in cafès and the Night of Festivals which took place earlier in the year.
