A piano duo will be returning to Swineshead on Friday, playing on not one, but two of the instruments.
Anne Applin and Geoffrey Pratley have both visited the Windmill Music Club at the village hall previously but only performed on one piano at the time.
On Friday, the pair will be playing music almost entirely for two pianos, beginning with Handel (an arrangement of two movements of his Oboe Concerto), Mozart (first movement of Sonata in C minor with a second piano part added by Grieg), three pieces by the Russian composer Gliere, and the opening movement of Brahms’s Piano Concerto in D minor in the composer’s own arrangement.
The second half will include pieces by Shostakovich, Schumann, Arthur Benjamin, Joan Trimble, the amusing Scenas Infantis by Octavio Pinto, and ending with two pieces by Percy Grainger.
Anne and Geoffrey have recently performed all over the world including several cruises for Fred, Olsen and P and O Lines, giving the classical concerts on board while at sea in between ports.
They will, in the future, be touring Greece and north Norway.
The pair have also entertained music societies and other audiences around the country, and given masterclasses, which can last from one to four days.
The show starts at 7.30pm. Entry is £12 adult, free for students.
