Comedian’s anniversary show cancelled following operation, but don’t worry - Cannon and Ball are here to save the day

A comedic duo who have been entertaining audiences since the 1960s have been drafted in to perform at Blackfriars Theatre’s 5th anniversary show on April 14.

Comedian and quiz show host Tom O’Connor was originally due to perform at the landmark show which will mark five years since the current committee took over following the threatened closure of the theatre.

Unfortunately however, due to ill health, he will be going into hospital for an operation a few days before he was due to appear.

A spokesman for his management company said: “He has a procedure he needs doing but couldn’t have it done in May as he was out of the country.

“It means a four week recovery and has lead to the Blackfriars show and one in Dubai being cancelled.”

Instead Blackfriars Theatre, on Spain Lane, have booked in Northern comedy duo Cannon and Ball to entertain audiences with their cabaret show.

It will feature support acts performing in the first half, while the comedy pairing, will be performing in the second act.
