Dramatic honour for Boston Children’s Theatre

YOUNGSTERS from Boston Children’s Theatre have scooped two awards at the two-day Skegness Youth Festival.

The group won best theatrical moment in Group 2’s performance of ‘Passion, Poison and Petrifaction’ by George Bernard Shaw and directed by Frances Sabey.

It also won runner-up for the best play, while Kennedy Gardner also received a nomination for best actress.

Boston Children’s Theatre founder Judith Hall said: “We were really proud of the achievements of the children at the festival. A big thank you to them and to Francis for all her hard work.”

The society, which was formed in September 2007, gave its first performance in January 2008.

It was originally for children aged eight-11 years, but in 2010 Group 2 – for children aged 12-16 – was formed.

The group rehearses and performs at Blackfriars Theatre, in Spain Lane, Boston.

The society’s next production will be on January 27 and 28, 2012, when Group 1 will perform a short play entitled ‘Tribes United’, and Group 2 will perform ‘Baklavia’ (with Group 1 playing the smaller roles).

l Both groups have a few places left for children to start after their next performance – so if your children are interested in joining the society contact Judith Hall on 01775 820759.
