Hear the famous old story of a London mayor and his cat at Blackfriars Theatre this week as the 2014 pantomime kicks off its season.
Tony Peers Productions have been working hard over the past few months to bring the story of Dick Whittington to the Spain Lane Venue.
Stars Gerry Graham (dame Sarah the Cook) and Abby Johnson (Queen Rat) will be joined by a host of local talent starting from Friday.
Gerry has been to the town a number of times previously performing in shows about old time music halls, war time music shows, and others.
He has worked with a number of stars on stage.
Abby Johnson started her career appearing on shows such as Candid Camera and becan working with the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company in 1963.
She has performed in shows, cabarets, television shows and pantomimets and with a number of stars.
The pantomime tells the story of a poor boy from Gloucester aided by his brilliant friend Tommy the Cat who, after a series of adventures, overcomes the evil Queen Rat to become Lord Mayor of London.
The producers promise that the show will be ‘a high energy mix of singing, dancing and comedy coupled with spectacular scenery and costumes’.
